Personal:  Born and raised in Charlotte, one of six children of the late Curtis and Agnes Blackwood.  His father was a small businessman in car parts and his mother was a teacher in Union County.  Wife, Audrey, two grown children, Ken and Emily, and one grandchild.  Life-long member of the United Methodist church; has participated in nine foreign missions and several local mission teams.  Has lived in Union County since 1973.  Republican since registered to vote.
